Adult Card Game (Printed Media)

My family and I have always played board games, and new adult-focused games such as Cards Against Humanity have garnered interest in younger audiences. I created my own as a project that would encompass many design elements and ended up with fully custom game cards, a board, a box and supporting literature which created a fully operational experience. At a fair personal expense, I produced a physical prototype which I have had to ability to share a road-test with friends and family on occasion.

Playing Cards & Rulebook

The game itself began, and is very much centred around, completing ridiculous and very pop-culturally influenced action cards. The outcome usually involving a sacrificial shot of any given drink to those who fail the task they have drawn from the deck. I created and illustrated 112 individual playing cards to form a deck; all with the defined characteristic style shown here.

Game Board & Box Art

I needed something to house all these items and complete the package of the game, so I created a game board that would work with the rules and gameplay (which took a couple of attempts of fine-tuning) and then created the box artwork, and had an example product manufactured and shipped for testing. I was so pleased with the end result when it arrived, the print quality of the cards and box were exceptional, and the board served it’s purpose but it was sadly very large compared to the rest of the game, so I redesigned it to fit in a much smaller package, with new box artwork to size (shown here). An added benefit of it is that it is also much more compact (think Cards Against Humanity size) and portable to make it much easier to take with you to play with friends and family.
